  1. We found La Gesnerie to be very clean and comfortable. We made good use of the pool and BBQ and enjoyed the pond and watching the lizards.
  2. A wonderful stay - thank you for the use of the piano. A Meal at La Tetre Moire and an excursion to Usse and Azay le Rideau - Beautiful.
  3. Fantastic week of exploring and wine tasting! Mairem du Vin in Angers is useful for supplying vineyards to visit.

  1. We have stayed in almost 20 different gites throughout France and can honestly say that this if one of the best. July 2011.
  2. Very quiet location and surrounded by spacious grounds which we were welcome to explore. The pool was a definite bonus and was made use of daily. Aug 2009.
  3. The property far exceeded our expectations. It had everything we needed and more, we also had internet access. The grounds are a delight and the iris’s are beautiful. Monique & Roger are very welcoming and provided us with a wealth of local information. On a rating of 1 - 10, I would definitely give Chantegrille 10. May 2009.

  1. A very comfortable Cottage with all facilities and centrally placed in a very quiet village 9 miles N. of Borgueil. A good Supermarket U 4 miles away (open all days- mornings/late afternoons) at Vernouil-Vernantes with resonably priced petrol. Good Tuesday market at Borgueil. Sept 2012.
  2. This gite was very nice as were the owners who lived next door they were very welcoming. Area good for wine tasting and one of the local towns did a wine tasting and a talk on wine making by an English guide. Chanteuse were interesting and the entrance fees ranged fom 8 to 14 euros per person. There were a couple of good restaurants which served 5 course meals at a reasonable price, also petrol and diesel prices are cheaper than in england. All in all good value for money. June 2012.

  6. An excellent cottage, well furnished, very clean and very quiet. Courleon itself has no shops or restaurants so you do need a car to get shopping and eat out - but the services in the area are good. The cottage has a self-contained garden with sun loungers, table and chairs and is lovely to sit in and relax. The cottage owners live next door and were always helpful but never intrusive. An excellent place, ideal for a couple. July 2011.
  7. The house was very well equipped, the bed comfortable and the owner very discreet. The church bells mentioned in another review were hardly noticeable. The only downside was the ridiculously small dishwasher and washing up by hand was easier. A big plus was the sunloungers in the unexpected garden as the weather was so good we could make full use of them on our return from a days sightseeing. The saumur region is somewhere we have visited for the last 10 years and even we went to a new (to us) attraction or town every single day of our weeks stay, meaning there is more than enough to see and do if you want to.   6. Charming accommodation more than adequate for seven of us. Warm welcome from the owners upon arrival and who were around if needed at all times. Superb indoor heated pool a big hit with all of us, especially the 4 year old. Extensive grounds, child and adult friendly. Large gas BBQ always available. Scenic walk through fields and woods to town without going near the main road. Sable itself is an interesting place to visit and also not too far from bigger towns/cities if wanted. Great place for having a really relaxed family gathering time away from home. June 2011.

  3. This is a fantastic property surrounded by vineyards and woodlands. Set back from the main road it allowed for peaceful relaxation whilst only being a short drive away from the center of town and local amenities. The property is spacious and well presented and the swimming pool is a lovely feature. We explored the area by car and pedal-bike (the Loire valley has excellent cycle tracks). We participated in the wine festival at Saumur and wine tasting at some of the many vineyards in the area - the wine is fantastic and the region has an understandably growing reputation. We will be heading back to this property in future having had a wonderful holiday. Sept 2011.

  1. Lovely peaceful location. Cottage fabulous, only very slight comment would be that the bathroom is very small but functional. The owner is a lovely lady and was extremely kind and helpful. She even picked us strawberries from her delightful garden! Would def return. June 2012.
  2. The owner has a dog which is kept outside. It barks in the night which woke us all up on several occasions. There are also other neighbours nearby who keep their dogs outside and which bark during the night. July 2011.
  3. This gite is perfect for a family break. There is very little to ’do’ in the immediate, very rural surrounding area, but you are, in fact, only a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Chinon. The garden is beautiful, without being overwhelming. The accommodation is airy and commodious: with many ’sleeps 6’, one is left with a sofa bed and put ups in a dual purpose living room; here, there are three good sized bedrooms, with an additional attic room for teenage retreats from family card games. The kitchen is very well appointed, with a copious supply of tea towels, a superb washing machine and dishwasher (while house work might not be everyone’s idea of a holiday, ill equipped holiday homes are a nightmare). The owner is next door and is helpful and considerate. We will be planning a return visit soon. June 2011.
  4. Friendliness and consideration taken by the owners of the gite. There was home made jam, a local bottle of wine and flowers to welcome us. Nothing was too much trouble for them without being intrusive. Aug 2010.
  5. We liked the position of the property on the edge of the village, the private garden and the larger garden of the owner’s property, the facilities (kitchen, shower etc) and the welcome from the owner and her family. Aug 2009.
  6. The gite was part of a lovely old farm and though attached to the owner’s building, had perfect privacy, with own secluded garden, if required. However, we found the owner very friendly and helpful and were more than happy to socialise with her. The kitchen was well equipped which was a real plus this year as it allowed us to cook our own meals. May 2009.

  1. Beautiful countryside, forests, wild flowers and wildlife. The gite is deep in the countryside. The atmosphere is very peaceful and tranquil. The French owners are lovely. The fishing in the private lake is good. Chateaux to visit, places to see, things to do, or you can just stay at home in the gite. June 2012.
  2. Remote, beautiful and more. I have stayed in nice places all over the world and this was right at the top. The local villages, roads, shops, châteaux - Orleans Chambord, the Loire are stunning and no less. May 2012.
  3. The gite was comfortable and the owners, who lived next door, were very welcoming and helpful. However, the abundance of wildlife made the accommodation exceptional. We saw unusual birds, we saw deer, rabbits and hares; we caught carp, roach and catfish in the pool and we would have loved to see a wild boar, but regrettably they alluded us on this occasion.
