Property Description

Le Petit Village is situated at the end of a quiet country lane with sweeping panoramic views in almost every direction across the valley. Here just three cottages and the owner’s house are set amidst seventeen private hectares of beautiful open countryside. The cottages have been beautifully restored to a very good standard. Exposed stone, beams and historic features have been retained to preserve their charm and character. Care has been taken to ensure that each cottage has a private terrace and seating area. A magnificent swimming pool is situated in the grounds and a picnic and barbecue area has been provided in one of the surrounding copses. There is a partially fenced wildlife pond 300 yards from the property, children must be supervised. The nearby riverside market town town of Le Bugue is just three miles away and offers restaurants, bars, a Tuesday market, shops, canoeing, kayaking, riding, tennis, aquarium and a crystal cathedral. Les Eyzies de Tayac with its National Museum of Prehistory is also close by and offers opportunities for exploring the shelters that were once home to prehistoric man. There are many water sports facilities in the area, especially at the charming village of Tremolat and in the 7-hectare park of Les Etang du Bois. The nearby pony club allows parents to accompany their children on country rides. Further afield is the historic town of Bergerac with its wine making traditions and the medieval market town of Sarlat. The whole area is steeped in historic villages, magnificent châteaux, oak and chestnut forests, fields of tobacco, maize and sunflowers.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Good location for main sites in the Dordogne. Lovely rural setting, beware the pool is very cold even when the weather is very hot and the property is not air conditioned. Exactly as it appears on the Internet and were completely satisfied but the general maintenance and pool cleanliness could have been better, there were a few rough edges in cleaning, gardening, appliances. Aug 2012.
  2. Lovely conversion of old farm property, very pleasant and helpful caretaker, but the detailed finish and standard of equipment and outside furniture did less than justice to the property as a whole. Poole well looked after, but needed additional pool side furniture to accommodate the full potential of guests. April 2012.
  3. This holdiay let is a modernised barn conversion, set in a rural location. The cottage included all the facilities and white goods. I would have preferred the downstair bathroom window to have been glazed or at least a blind provided, as you could be seen from the outdoor area. The downstairs bedroom needed slats in the patio doors to allow air in at night. Sept 2011.
  4. Layout was convenient. Situation wonderfully rural. The caretaker was very helpful. Oct 2009.
  5. Bright and renovated. Swimming pool and quiet well preserved grounds. Sept 2009.
  6. Very clean cottage with an amazing setting, the caretaker was so helpful and friendly and would do anything to help. Sept 2009.
  7. Very comfortable, spacious, light. Well done-up, lovely quiet surroundings. Caretaker very helpful. July 2009.
  8. Close to local facilities, excellent pool. Aug 2009.
